The Goal
The main goal behind 5 Short Stories is story interaction. If you play through this mod 10 times, we predict you will experience the story in 10 different ways. Events and characters are set up in a modular, not linear way. This means that the path you take to explore this story is set up by you, not us. You are the narrator to your own story, you are an essential piece to the final artwork.
This mod is not about fetch quests and repetitive battles to clear locations. Every quest is very story driven but set up in a way where you are free to pursue the leads you see fit. The lines that separate one quest from another will blur together as you uncover more information.
We did our best to experiment with the possibilities of interactive dialogue to create colorful characters. Each character is engaged in the story in their own unique way. They interact not only with you, but with each other, naturally bringing their personality traits to the surface in a way that traditional 'interview' style dialogue can't do. We hope that you feel a sense of community from these characters, and that you want to invest in them the way they invest in you.
The Stories
A Fistful of Gold
teambacon.boards.net/thread/61/short-circuit-hotel-rexford
Hancock summons you to Goodneighbor to solve a noir style murder mystery complete with a femme fatale, complex backstory, and an ending that leaves you with more questions than answers.
Beware the Blue Bandit
teambacon.boards.net/thread/59/beware-blue-bandit
Is he a hero or a villain? The people of the Commonwealth can't seem to agree. To some he is a menace and a thief, but to others he is a modern day Robin Hood protecting the oppressed and bringing equality. Help him pull of the heist of the century if you dare.
They Called Her Red
teambacon.boards.net/thread/56/mother-daughter
An angsty teenage girl named Kaylee lives on a rooftop farm in the middle of Boston with the survivors of a once legendary squadron from the Midwestern chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel. Help her reclaim her mother's power armor and uncover the secrets behind the Red Paladin and the once mighty faction of the Brotherhood.
Who am I?
I bet by now you are wondering, 'who exactly is this guy, and what give him the balls to think he can do all this?'
With so many mod plans going down the drain before ever even getting off the ground, I would expect people to be skeptical of me.
Hell, I would be disappointed if you weren't skeptical... So here is a short list of what I bring to the table.
- 3D modeling since 2009
- Models, textures, projecting normals, trim sheets
- High poly or low poly
- Animations, complex shaders, particle effects
- Advanced lighting
- Zbrush sculpting and texturing
- Unreal Engine, CryEngine, Unity
- Fallout 3 Modding Expereince
- Bachelor of Arts Degree
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy
- Understanding of game industry workflow
- Expereince working on indie games from scratch
- Lots and lots of writing
But that alone wouldn't be enough to sell me on this project, I would want to see proof of commitment to the project. Nothing is worse than working with a modder who has mastered the art of making excuses about why he or she is not finishing stuff. So I will go ahead and let my progress so far do the talking.
Progress
First of all, I believe in 100% transparency. I have nothing to hide and everything I am doing will be posted up on my website. *Obviously I mean within reason, I am not going to post all 200 pages of my sketchbook and update you every time I model a shoestring on a character* There will be none of this leaving you in the dark bs that less dedicated mod authors so commonly do.
I look forward to being held accountable by my supporters. I'm not going to get your hopes up with big words and wild propaganda just to let you down when the mod comes out and it isn't up to par. You will see my work every step of the way and call me out when I'm not getting stuff done.
Excuses are worth nothing, progress is the only currency here.
That being said, so far I have...
- Story 100% done
- 400+ page of writing
- 200+ pages of concept art, maps, and diagrams
- Organized system of how the dialogue progresses
- Clear and precise design document and plan of attack
- Team website organized by assets
- Easy access for team to get needed info
- All locations started in the Creation Kit, most just need lighting and small details
- Major npcs created
- Progressing with quest creation
- New outfits started on in Zbrush
- 3d model for Cal the robot *lost when my ssd crashed, but I should be able to recover it off the drive*
- 50% voice acted
- 2 new music scores created
